ün FricLiy evening last Ann Arbor lost one oí her bese citizens in the deuth of John Moore, which occurred at his home on S. División sireet. Mr. Moore was oorn at Mt. Washington, Mass., Sfarch 23, 1824. When a youn m au he went to batavia, N. Usius & Co W uhin a few weeks he agaiii engaged in the dru busi.iess puicaas ing tha Holmes pharmacy in tue Cook lluuse block whlüh he later moved to tue present locatiun, a few doors west. l)unng al. these jears Mr. Moore has been one of the best citizens of our city. lie has been a quiet and unobtrusive one, but one who has always hau au opinión on every public ques tion, and the character of the man has ahvuys giyen his opinions weight. His oaly puülic office was one term as cuy ireasiirer. All his life long he has been an earn est menu. er of the Presbyterian church, and has exempiifled his belief in his daily life. He has been for years a member of the board of elders, and was at his death the oldest memuer of the board, llis fellovv members on that board will long remember his earnest counsels, and his deep and unobtrusive piety. llis pastor voiced their thoughts on üunday morning when he spok of him as "the beloved disuiple wuo had received his translation ' Mr Moore was one of a family of ten chüdren. eight or wtiom are stiü living. Of his own irnmediate family ke Jeaves a wife and Six children. Mrs. viooieand his son Ueo. JL. Aloore are residente of tliis city; Alrs. Aggie Robeson of Port íiuron; Mrs. Ida Ludlow of Detioii; Mrs. Mettie Cochrane 01 Toledo; John E. Mooreof Chicago; and Mrs. Lucy E. McKean of (iranger, O. The funeral was held f rom his late residence Monday af ernoon, his sous and sons-in law his remains to tlieir last restiug place.
