Merrill Pardons The Hypnotist

Topeka, Kan., Jan. 13.- The last officia! act of Goveronr Merrill was the pardoning of Anderson Gray, the Sumrer county farmer, genteneed to death for instigating the murder of Thomas Patten, a neighboring farmer, in May, 1!W. The murder was committerl by Thomas E. McDonald. Gray's farm hand. Gray, it is said, havingr hypnotized McDonald and compelled him to do the murder. On trial McDonald was acquitted.
