Arthur Briggs of is visiting friends and relatives here. Miss Louise Schlanderer of Ann Arbor, is visiting Minnie Vogel. MissFields one of onr High school teachers, was on the sick list last week. Some of our young men expect to attend a dance at Grass Lake next Friday. A box social w;ts held at the home of .Take Baries in Lima, last Wednesday night. Samuel Morlock has opened a livery barn on the premises which J. Stailan has vacated. A grand masquerade and ball will be held at the Lima town hall on Friday night of this week. Therewereeightlifeinsuranceagents here last week Most of thém were very successfnl. which shows how provident our citizens are. A fire company was organized here last Monday night. to man the hose cart. A larg.' number of flremen were eurolled under the management of Jack ('ole. Mr. lohn Girback, a young business man of this town, is very seriously ill of typhoid fever. At last reports" his e;-overy had been dispdired of by the physicians. Last week one man in this town had over three feet of water in bis cellar. lie made a pontoon bridge with a coupl of casks and in that way reaehed his provisions. Miss Dorrit Hoppe, while driving to town last Saturday, narrowly escaped -erious injury in a runaway. Her liorse became frightened at a threshing engine in the road, and ran a way, breaking the bugijy to pieces. Miss Hoppe escaped unirijured. Mrs. Geo. Davis, one of our most esteemed ladies, died last Friday of a complicition of diseases. Her remains were. buned in the Vermont cemetery last Minday, the funeral being con ducted at the house. Mr Davis has the symputhy of all who knew his estimabl wife. A series of revival meetings are being held in the Methodist cliurch this week and next. They are being led by ihe pastors of the Methodist, Oongregaii'inal and Baptist churches. A large number of c nverts have already come forvvard, and great things are expected next week. The annual farmers' institute will be held here next Tuesday and Wednesday. This will be an enjoyable aftair. Severa! dis inguislied speakers from different paris of the state will be present and some of the prominent farmesof the couuty will lead the discussion There will be sessions in the morninif. afte"noon and evening, of each day. Good music and plenty of it.
