The followmg resolutions wereadopt ed ut the mass meeting held at the Presbyterian church last Sunday after noon to eoltect funds for the Armeniai orphans: Whereas, American fellow-eiti zens in Turkey, engaged in Iawfu pursuits guaranteed by treaty, hav( been and are being subjected to peri and insult, and Whereas, in November 1895, at Harpoot and Marash, houses and property of American citizens were bombardee'!, burned and plundercd to the extent of over ($100,0(10, by the Turkish sóldierj and mob, and VThereas, no indemnity nor the punishrnent of a single ofender has been secured, but on the other hand the ïurkish Government, emboldened by its immunity, isjMTöeeeding to still further ou trages, and is plptting on false and malicioua charges to drive all Americans trom the land, therefore, Resolved, that we, citizens of Ahn Arbor, Mieh , in mass meeting assembied, hereby express our indlgnation, and cali upon our (Jovernment to take such steps as shall be necessary to secure full and mmediate satisfaction for the d images already inflicted on our fellow-citizens in Turkey, and to guarantee them full protec'tion of person, property and rights, in the prosecution of their lawful occupations. liesolved. that we express our abhorrence of the colossal and barbarous massacres in Armenia, that have lef t an indelible stain upon the world's record in the closing years of the 19th century, and that we show our sympathy for tlie survivors. by liberally "supporting the noble relief work now being carried on by Armeman missionaries. Resolved, that copies of these resolutions be transinitted to tlie President of the United States, the Secretary of State, and to our senators and representatives in congress. Resolved, that -ye urge all patriots andOhristians to give f oree and expression to their sentiments on this matter through personal letters to the president and to their members in congress.
