A Pleasant Surprise

On the Btta of October, 1896, Alvin Mead was 74 yeara oi' age, and on the 29th of April Mrs. Mead was 72 yenrs of age. Last Wednesday, Jan. 20, was the liftieth anniversary of their wedding, and the event was celebrated by i large surprise party, which invaded their home, situated between Y"psilanti and Ann Arbor. Mr. Mead was presented with a pair of gold-bowed spectacles and Mrs. Mead with a handsome gold pin, the presentation speech being made by Mrs. Fmma Handall of Ypsilanti. Abont fifty guests were present, and au enjoyable time was had by all.
