InüianapoliR, Jan. 20.- Charles Warren Fairbanks was elected United States senator to succeed Daniel W. Voorhees by the legislature at noon Tuesday. In the senate Senator Haw■fcins made the principal nominating speech and Representative Prancis T. Koot placed Mr. Fairbanks in nomination ín the house. There were several seeonding speeches. John R. East made the nominating speech for Mr. Voorhees, who received the vote of the minority. The result of the election wlll T iormally announced Wednesday in joint session.
