Miss Matie Burnett has returned from her visit to Lansing. Ilenry Wilson and wife of Webster visited his brother VVillard and family last Sunday. Mrs. Wilton Field is visiting friends at Ilastings and other points in Van Uuren county. The Ladies' Aid society meets "Wednesday of this week with Mrs. Ilenry Spiegelburg for tea. Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Safford of Flint have been visiting at Frank Butterfield's for a few days. Friend Barker is still buying and shipping beans, and purpos-is to keep on, as long as the season lasts. Rev. Mr. Hicks went to Fitchburgh and lectured for the Epworth League on Thursday evening ot this week. Mr. (ieorge Nelson has beensuffering for about ten days with a severe attack of the "grippe"", but is better at this writing. Mr. Ilenry Stilson has the material ready for his new ice-house bat siekness has kept him from completing and lilling it. Earnest Fiilton of Brighton is visiting friends in this vieinity for a few days, and will soon go to Bancroft for a brief sojoum. Mr. and Mrs. Emory Snell are expect ing their daughter, Mrs. Lizzie i'ayne of Ohio. to visit them this week, to remain a few days. The postponed social carne off this week Tuesday evening at Mr. (i. W. McCormick's, and of course everybody had a good time. Ilenry Spiejrelburg and his team eame near taking a cold batU in the lake while at work last Friday night, but prompt action saved them. Mrs. W. B. Eane went to Columbus, Ohio, last week to visit hor daughter. leaving "Will" and '-Xlncle Frank" to keep "bachelor's hall" for awhile. Prof. Fred O. Kicks, son of the Methodist pastor here, writes his parents that lie is now in Home. Italy; and expects to join bis family in Leipzig in April, lie has spent the last two raonths in Paris. Parties from Toledo have built and lilk'd a large ioe-house near Mr. Hoper's at the south end of the lake, and if the season will only hold on a few days theywill build and iill another alongside of it. Mr. John Forth, an itinerant clock tinker, died at the residence of Mr McNally, southeast of the lake last Friday night, after an illness of two or three weeks. He was buried on Monday. We are without farther partieulars. The Spring Lake Tce company worked a gang of men all night lasr, Friday night for fear the ice would break up before they could get their houses filled. They finished work last Monday forenoon, with one or two housës onlv partly fllled. At the recent quarterly meeting services here, one young lady was baptized and received into the church, and twenty-six participated in the communion service. The next quarterly meeting will be held in the Webster "church in May. The postponed Epworth League 'group meeting" is to be held here ind the. League here are preparing for a profitable and interesting meeting. Everybody is invited to attend all the sessions. Severa! of our church-going people íave been a'tending revival meetings at the H ollister school house, north, held 1 the Free Methodist pastor, Rev. Mr. Roe of South Lyon, and report very nteresting services and several conversions. Our sister city of Hamburg is to be favored in the near future with a flrstclass "female minstrel show",clog dancing and all. None hut flrst grade home talent will particípate, and it is expected to be a high grade entertainment all round. Your reporter is without dates or prices, so merely chronicles the f acts.
