Fred Hall has established a laundry agency at Saline. Monday being a legal holiday the schools were closed. Mrs. B. W. Amsden has been spending a week at Toledo. F. M. Freeman was in Jackson Friday on legal business. Cari AV uerthner was a guest of Ann Arbor friends over Sunday. Aspirants for the post office seem to be getting more numerous. G. L. McCollum has gone to Iludson to work in a bicycle factory. Miss Oeta Hall, a U. of M. student, visited her mother this week. ffm. líehfuss ,Tr. of A"nn Arbor, was a visitor at C. Nauman's Sunday. Bert Witheral of the University was tiome this week on a short vacation. Miss Maggie Blosser returned Saturday from a pleasant visit at Lansing. Mr. and Mrs. A. M Kiebler were the juests of Ann Arbor friends Sunday. A special meeting of Meridan Chap;er, K. A. M. was held Friday evening Cor lodge work. Mrs. O. II. Myers of the Frfeman House, returned Friday from a weekTs visit at Jackson. A load of merry makers drove to Bridgewater Friday night to attend a dancing party there. Miss Ella Lehn gave a five o'clock ;ea Sunday to a party of her friends, in honor of her birthday. llenry Seckenger, who was until recen1 ly employed at Mack & Co.'s, has ï_ne to Saline 011 a visit. v,r. and Mrs. John Klein of Chelsea, visited the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Haag, Sunday. The regular meeting of the Alpha Sigma was held Tuesday evening, owing to there being no school Monday. Miss Lina Jones of Clinton, was in iown last week, visit ing her brother Geo., who is very low with consumption. Louis lïollinger and wife spent the iirst two or three days of the week with Mrs Hollinger's parents at Brooklyn. Holler & Co. have marketed about 75 tons of beans thïs winter. The American people must be fond of bean soup. Emil Filbur of Jackson has been spending the past week at L. Ilerman's. Mrs. Filbur is an invalidat the parental home. Capt. E. P. Allen and fatnily of Ypsi lanti, and Mr. Leiand of Ann Arbor, attended the LeJand-Campbell wedding Monday. A merry load of young people surprised the Misses Herman last Friday evening, and spent the evening thefe very pleasantly. The youngsters make the lives of pedestrians along Exchange Place exesedingly uihappy, by pesting passersby with snowballs. A chimney on Win. Lehr's residence mrned out'Tuesday evening, and by the aid of a half dozen men the building vas saved f rom taking tïre. V,m. Seckenger of Saline, was in town 'upsday on business. He says he is veil pleasedwith their business venture here, and is contideiit of success. Freeman went to Detroit Monay to attend tlie banquet given tliar ivening by the Michigan Club, and to be present at the Republican state convention held tliere Tuesday. Mr. John Kotts of tuis villnge and Miss Ilattie Gieske were united in marriage Wednesday, by Rev. Geo. Bchoettle, at the residence of the bride's párente, Mr. and Mrs. Lambert Gieske, in Sharon. The Star Lodge will hold a special meeting Friday evening for degree work. The Brooklyn Lodge has been invited to attend, and a banquet will be served at six o'clock, fter which the degrees will be conferred. Bowers, and father of Mrs. Dan Burch of .Sharon. lie was for upwards of 50 years a resident of Sharon. There is likely to be a little fun at the village election next Monday. Two caucuses have been ealled for "the purpose of noniinating the various village oflicers. One, the old-tim? Oitizens' ticket, run by " de gang ", and the other, the Young Men's ticket, comprising younger voters. A bout 35 or 40 friends of Mr. and Mrs. (ieo. J. Xisle gave them a very pleasant surprise, Monday evening, the event being their fifth wedding anniversary. They left a handsome chair with the young peopleandafter passing the evening in a most pleasant manner left, wishiug them many more long years of wedded bliss. A very pretty home wedding was solemnized Monday at uoon. at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Campbell of Sharon tovvnship, when their danghter, Miss Jennie.was united in marriage to Mr. J. (. Leiand, a teacher in the Kirkwood Military Academy of Kirkwood, Mo. Kev. Dr. L. Barnes of Tecuinseh. a relative of the bride, pronounced the ceremony. The happy I couple left at 2:45 for their western I home.
