Mr. Thoman Sears is quite seriously i!l at his home. John Foster. who is on the road selling machines, visited his f amilyjlast sunday and Monday. A number of Chelsea and Sylvan young people surprised Mr. and Mrs'. jeo. Steinbaeh at their home in Lima last Wednesday night. Miss Josephine Davidson of Ann Arbor. gave a '-dialect" entertainment at the Baptist church last Tuesday night, which was vtry well received by a large audience. . Several of our swelle st republican politicians went to Detroit to sttend the annual banquet of the Michigan Club. Tbe láll was seven dollars a píate, so tliey went to the theater instead. The lliiih School Box social vas held at the hom.' of .Miss Mary Wood in Limalast Monday eve, while the seventh and eight grades spent a pleasant time at the home of Wm. Gray, south of this village. Last Monday af ternoon Chas. Whittaker and WillLehman tried the speed of their horses, "Sleèpy lien" and "Kowdy Boy." The race occurred on Midde st. and Sleepy Ben earried off the houors and purse, winning three straight heats. A (lonation for the benefit of theRev. Mr. Edmunds and family was held at the Congrecrational church AVednesday aight. A fight supper was served and music was furnished by the best locil it, assisted by the Misses White and Fletcher of Aun Arbor. The funeral of Mr. David lilaich occurred liere Tuesday morning at the Lutheran church. Mr. Blaich had been living here at the home of hia son, Mr. (c;irge Blaich, f or several years. Hia death last Saturday was caused by a fall from a sleigh about a week ago. He leaves eight chilclren, two of whom reside here, Mr. Geo. Blaich and Mrs. Theo. Wood. Hia relatives attended the body to Pyracuse, .'. Y., where he will be buried.
