A bout oO telephone subscribers got togeiheratthe Court Ilouse Tuesday evening to consider the situation. l't seemed to be the sense oí the meeting that the support of telephone subscribers in the city should be given to the company that would give the best guaranteed rates. On motion a commitlee of nine consisting of II. .1. Brc-wn, II. ü. Prettymaii. John IMnzmaiin, O. II. Cady, F. Carrow. S. C. E and all, N. J. Kyer, AV. J. licoth ar,d (i. Frank Alreendinger, was appointed to tonfer wjth representatives of the Bll and ttat e telephone ccmpanies with reference to rates and service and report to a later meeting. After the general meeting the committee met ánd ordered notice sent to the two ccmpanies, that they might present such matters to theccinmitteé as they cared to. A sub-committte was appointfd censitting of Messrs. man. Eelser ar d ]koth. to consider the feasibiJity cf a unión of telephcne subscribers, in ord r to get the benefits of co-operation. ]t is argued that if a second ccmpany comes into the city it will te necessary ior man y Lusiness places to sustain tvo instruinents, and thus the benefit of reduce d rates will be more llian offset.
