The donation at tlie Methodist church netted $62. .Tacob Stiinu made a business trip to Detroit last t-aturday. Rey. M. L. Marvin is assisting in revival meetings at Leslie. Mr. Otto Bliss, older brother of Mell Bliss, is home from Oregon. W. X. Listei and Miss hlalene Webb visited relatives in Milan Saturday last. B. D. Davenport wai in Detroit last Friday and Saturday on busmess matters. Grove Eouse and Olie Donaldson are studyiug tor civil service examinations. The I5ay View Reading Circle meets Saturday evening with the Misses Burkhart. The lïaptists had a social and chicken pie supper at the home of Mrs. Forbes, VVednesday afternooa. Mrs. D. A. Townsend spent Saturday in Yp-;ilanti with lier mother, who is reported to be improving. The junior class made 87 and had a jolly time at their social at Miss Marión Leith's last Friday evening. The principal attraction at the Presbyterian social to be held at the home of Geo. J. Xissley tonight, will be the gramophone entertainment. Ilenry Jewett, the worthy janitor of me scnooi uuuüing, has úeen under the weather a portion of the week, and Sela Fitzgcrald has been doing the work. Mis. Ben Smith made a surprise party for lier daughter, Miss Edna, i'uesday niglit. It was largely attended by the young people of Saline Mr-i II. H. Iluniphrey of Detroit, is spending the week visiting her sister, Mrs. G. C. Townsend, and other relativt-s and o!d acquaintances in Saline. I). A. Townsend will soon move into the house of (J. Schatter ón l'ine street, the house that he noiv occupies on McKay street háving been sold to J. T. Buck who will taice possession soon. Village caucuses have been a inore proliflc subject of discussion this year than usual. The regular Corporation caucus was held Friday night and some new torces seem to have control ofnominations. The " ring," if such it may bc called, was somewhat surprised ro iind itself utiable to dictate nominations, as heretofore there has scarcely been interest enough, or at least suion enougn. to cause any contests at primarles. The following'nominations were made at the lirst caucué: President, Geo-. J. Xissle.v; clerk, ü. X. How; treasurer, (. ('. Townsend; assessor, Ash V"an Duzer; trustees, Ilenry Fisli, Ed flauser and George Schroen. The minority, who heretofore have been the majority, not being satisfied with thia ticket, mei Monday night and modified the ticket thus: Clerfe, (eorge Lutz; treasurer, Abe Alber; assessor, Howard Nichols; trustees, John Gates, John McKinnon. The principal issue seems to be on the saloon question.
