Wheat in Michigan was not materially damaged during February. In answer to the question. "Has wheat during February Buffered injury l'rom any cau-e?" 129 correspondents in the ?tate answer "yes" and (J13 "no." In the southeru counties 82 answer "yes" and 418 "no;" in the central 40 answer "yes" and 114 "no,"and in the northern 7 answer "yes" and 81 "no." The ground was well covered with snow during the month. In answer to the question, "Has the ground been well oovered with snow during February V" 405 correspondents in the southern counties answer "yes" and 88 "no," and in the central counties 98 answer "yes" and fl "no." The average depth of snow in the southern counties February 15 was 6.48 inches, and at the end of the month, 3.(10 inches. In the central counties the average depth February 15 was 8.79. and at the end of the month, 4.119. inches. In the northern counties there was about t iuches of snow February 15, and nearly doublé that amount at the end of the "month. rits this month have undertaken to answer the question, "What percent of the wheat erop oí' 18911 is the wheat now in farmers' hands'?" Itwill be noticed the question calis for an estímate of all wheat on hand, no matter when raised. the estímate to be based on the erop of lMHi. The returns indícate that there was an equivalent of 17 per cent of the erop 189(1 in farmers' hands on March 1. The estimates for the southern counties range f rom II per cent in Hillsdale and Jackson to 23 in lierrien, Lenawee, Oakland and Wayne. The total number of bushels of wheat reported marketed in February is 751,58, and in the seven möntbs. AugustFebruary. (1.877,443. This is 170,325 more than reported marketed in the same month last year. Live stock is in good average condition. The figures for the State are 96 for horses, caltle and sheep, and 98 for hogs.
