Charlie Osborne is studying telegraphy at New Iludson. Postofïïce mattere here are very quiet, but there is some anxiety. Mr. and Airs. Freeman Shuart of Dixboro visited at Ilenry Weber's last week. Miss Ajjgie Welsh of Urania is visiting Her litlle friends hereabouts this week. .Mrs. Wil! Ppiegelberg hadanattack of tbe grip last week, just too mueli for comfort. Our Sabbath school was represented in the connty convention at A nu Arbor this week. Uncle Xelson Stevens of Ann Arbor was at the Lake House last week for a brief visit. Farmers are trasy getting their summer's wood up, and getting ready for spring work. The Sunday school have. recently purchasecl a new set of wall nnips, 'a much neecied ïmproveinent. Miss Maggie Dodge of Laingsburg, who has been visiting her brother, our genial merchant, has returned home. Mr. and Mrs. George -Xelson have been severely ill for over two weeks, bat are convalescent at the present writing. Will liane, Eldad and Milton Field are each keeping "widower's ranch" these days, and trying hard to make the best of it. There were seven young people united witli the Methodist ehurcn herè on a recent Sabbath, and othera will join soon. The iep is getting out oí' the lake and an occasional duek alights to feed and rest, but our nimrods will not allov, him to do either in peace. Too bad. Mr. M. W. '.Villoughby of Ann Artor was visitingat 1 1 parsonage lust week, and would havefished if there had been any fishiog and the luw had permitted it. Neighbor Stilson, aoross the lake, luis been renewing his youth by having a run of the measles in hia oíd age. lias been quite siek but is getting better now. Our genial station agent, ' Mr. Gilleo, expecta lus wife this weck from i-it at Ashley and will soon commence housekeeping in one of Charlie l'ray's houses. Our hotels are beincr cleaned and renovated within and without, painted, etc. preparatory to the influx of siunmer visitors. Ve shall all be glad to see thein come again. John Turner and Kniest Fulton are busy these days canvassing for a Chicago íirm and meeting with a fair share of success. Johnnie AViesmyer is fixinpr up liis cottage on the north bank of thelake. and will soon set up housekeeping bv himself and wife. St. Patrick's friends ceiebrated his birthday with a dance at the l'lifton House last Wednesday evening and had a good time of course. The Ladies' Aid society had a good attendance at the parsonage last week, and neet ncxt Wednesday afternoon at the Lake House for supper and everybody is of course invited to come and have a good nev. .Mr. .ioon oí íouth Lyon exchanged pulpita last Sabbath with Rev. Mr. Hicks, and our churehgoing people enjoyed Mr. Móon's sermón, as did also the people at Webster and Hamburg. Come again some day, Bro. Moon. Charlie ]'ray has rented his house here. and purchased a farm in losco, Livingston Co., and moved there this week. -orry to lose him and his familv, but he would be a granger, so we all wish him abundant success in his new home. The recent high water has made it necessary for the railroad company to keep a watchman at the sinkhole so'uth of here for several days. and Frank Spiegelberg has been on duty as nightwateh during the time. and doesn't relish that kind of employmentVery well. On account of the exceedingly di agreeable weather and nearly impassa ble condition of the roads, the attem anee at the Epworth League "grou meeting" last Friday was very smal both afternoon and evening. Orily Re Mr. MeMahon and Miss Donaldso from Pinclcney were present from abroad, vet the program was well car ried out, andthose in attendance greatl enjoyed the papers and discussions. The young people under the lead ( Miss Xelle Stevens gave a "conundrum social" at the Lake House last Satu day evening, which was well atiende and a very pleasant entertainment, con sisting oí' vocal and instrumental musi recitations and dialogues was provided d which all the participants acquittec themselves creditably, and after th 'feast of reason and flow of soul." cak and cofïee were served, and a handsom sum réalized for the benefit of th church.
