A report comes from Bridgewatei township of a most shocking c iminal offense. perpetrated upon two riel'enseless women, last week Wednesday evening. lt seems that four young men. Fred Lefountaine. Holt. McCarty, ('larence I?rooks. and a fellow nameil Conway. after getting well fiJled vvith intoxieants, droe to the residence of Mrs. Conrad Burg. a widow lady upward of 70 ytars of age living with a malden daughter aged about 45, on the Saline roacl, near what is known as tlie Lancaster school house 'l'hev demanded admission to the house, wliich was refused. whereup )ii they broke in the door. and after beating the womeu thi y committed a criminal assault upon them, and continued their dastardly crime until late in tlie morning The younger lady is said to be sufferinsr with consumption and sincethe a-'saiilt has leen in a precarious condition. from which it is feared stie wiJl not rallv. Officers were made familiar with the oflense, and have succeeded in making tlie arrest of the above named persons, wlio are deemed guilty of the crime. The case will beex-.m ined at aline today, and if the men in custody are found guilty of the crime, th y will undoubtedly 'be dealt with severely. Vespers.
