I8!)T, at which election the'followiug State and Connty Officerv are ro 1)í: elected, viz: A Justice of the Supreme Courl in place of Charles D. Long, who.-e term of ofltcc expires December si. 197, also two Regente of the jjniversityof Michigan in pluceof Levi L. Barboni and Williani J. Cocker, whose terms of oilice expire December 31. 1897. Also a Connty Commis.sioner of Schools for the Connty of Washtenaw in place of Williani W. Wi'ilinieyer, whose term of ofllce expires. And also the following Aniendments to the Conatitntlon of this State wlll be votcd on. viz: JOINT RESOLUTiOïi Proposing an amendment to section one, article ninc, of the Constitution of this State, relativo to the salary of the Attorney General. Resolved by the Senate and House of Heprepentatives of the State of Michigan, That an amend. Tiicni to section one of article nine of the constitution 01 this State be and the saméis hereby proposed, to read as follows: Skction 1. The Governor shall receive an annual salary of four thousand dollars; the judges of the circuit court shall cach receive an animal salary of two thousand flve hundred dollars: the Attorney General shall receive an annnal salary of three thousand five hundred dollars, and lie shall reside dnring his term of office in the city of Lansing.and in person altend to the duties of bis office: the Secretary of State shall receive an annual salary of eight hundred dollars; the State Treasurer shall receive an annual salary of one thoosand dollars: the Superintendent of Public truotion shall receive an annual salary of one thousand dollars: the Commlssióner of tne State Land Office shall receive an annnal salary of eiglit hundred dollars. Thcy shall receive no fees (ir perquisitee whatever for the performance of any duties connected with their office. It shall not be competent for the Legislature to increase the salaries herein provided. Be it further resolved, That said nmendment shall be eubmitted to the People of the State of Michigan at the Spring Election. on the flrst Monday of April, in the year one thousand eight hundred and ninety-séven, and the Secretary of State is hereby required to gye notice of the same to the sheriffs of the severo! counties of this state the time prior to said election required by law, and the said sheriffs are hereby required to give the several notices requirod Ijy law. Each person voting for said amendment shall have written or printed on nis ballot, as then provided by law, the words "Amendment to the constitution relative to the salary of the Attorncy Gencrul- Yes." and each person roting against said amendment sliall have on his ballot in like man. ner, "Amendment to the constiiution relative to the Attorney General- No." The ballots shall in all respects be canvassed and returns made a in eeneral election of State ofücers.
