Washington, March 27.- THe senate teJ a resolution asking the presifor Information as te the death of wo American sailors at Santiago de tiba; also resolutions asking the attorey general for information of any projosition to sell the Union Pacific raiload It was determined to print the uprrme court majority and minority pinions on railway trusts as a senate ocumenl. A memorial from the Michgan logislature was presented by Melillan protesting against the executive rder at the close of the last adminisration consolidating pension agencies. Aft.er an executive session the senate dlourned until Monday. The house adopted several unimortant committee amendments to the ariff bil!, of which nine pages of the 62 were disposed of. The Democrats ried to get in an amendment against ie trusts, but it was ruled out as not jeing in order until the free list was p. Dingley said the trusts would be ealt with at the proper time. Washington, March 29.- The house made slow progress wlth the tariff bill aturday, disposing of but five pages. Five amendments of minor Importance vere adopted, the balance of the time eing taken up with discussion. AVashington, March 30.- The senate esterday passed a resolution asking for nformation regarding the order reservng forests in the west issued by Cleveand, and another asking why certain lasses of workmen were required to tand competitive examinations. Allen ffered a resolution declaring that tariff uties should not be so laid as to tax ne class for another's benefit. The bill o make it impossible to give kinetocopic views of theCorbett-Fitzsimmons ght was reported by Hoar. In execuive session the arbitration treaty was ebated. The house continued the consideration f the tariff bill and a number of mendments were adopted changing the chedules- raising the duties on some rticles and lowering them on others. McCall and Lovering, of Massachusetts. ttacked the bill as putting the duties o high. They are Republicans. Washington, March 31.- The senate istened to a long speech by Allen of NTebraska against protective tariff. The louse amendments to the bill approriating $250.000 for rescue work on the Mississippi were agreed to. Corrected redentials were filed in the case of Corbett, appointed senator from Oregon. Morgan presented a resolution asking br a lot of information about Cuba. A petition was received from sheepaisers of Montana for ampie protection o wool. In executive session the arbiration treaty was debated. The house yesterday had a warm discussion over the subject of free hides, but no action resulted'. Thirty-five comnittee amendments to the tariff bill vere adopted, and at adjournment hut wenty of the 162 pages of the bill had jeen considered. The vote will be taken at 3 p. m. today. Healwote of Minnesota introduced e. resolution for a banking and currency commission, which is In line with the recommendaions of McKinley's inaugural address and oL the Indianapolis conference.
