Everything now points to a most successf ui celebration of the national birthday in this city on Saturday, July 3rd. The flnance committee have assurance that plenty of money will be forthcoming. The business men and citizens generally are taking hold of the matter with au enthusiastic spirit that insures success, and advices from about the county justify the prediction that the attendance will be large. The program Jt'or the day has not yet been fïnally arranged, but ïhe Democrat is able to give at this time the most prominent features of the day, to which others, new and novel, will be added as the arrangements progress. The forenoon will be occupied by the formal reception of out-of-town organizations and the parade of military and civic organizations, societies, industrial exhibitions, etc. The three regiments comprising the first battalion of state troops have been invited to be present, and many have already signifted their intention to be with us. Ten brass bands have been engaged to enliven this procession with patriotic music. The exercises of the af'ternoon will be opened at 1 p. m. by the bands plaving "Colurabia" in unisón at the court house square. Governor Hazen S. Pingree is expected to make the principal address. Followlng this Ann Arbor's crack fire department will answer a false alarm on Main street,going through all of the movements at a fire. Next will come the balloon ascensión and parachute drop. After this the military companies will form for dress parade on the court I house square. A ball game and bicycle races will occupy the balance of the af ternoon. At 7 p. m. tkere will be a grand .brass band concert on the court house square to be followed by a magniflcent display of fireworks.
