Prof. DuPont gave a very pleasant party in honor of the young Lidies longing lo the School of Üusic and heir friends on Wedueschy evening ast. in the parlors of Musie hall. At the lawn party given by Mrs Israel lUissell, last Kriday evening, a petition was started by the girls, askng each one wlio signed to earn a dolar before returning in tlie f all, for the enefit of the Woman's Gymnasium. I?he iegents have kindly advaneed the noney to finish the gymnasinm and this i's one of the ways the girls will se to repay them. This is a very busy week for ihe high school students, as" examiaatjons are on, and every moment not spent in study is taken up with the interesting experience of getting one's picture taken, or of visiting the tailor or dressinaker. The class this year numbers. in all, about eighty members, being not quite so large as classes of other years. What they lack in numbers, however, they makê up for in enterprise, as a glance at the arrangetm nt of the program for next wet'k will show. Instead. for instance, of having the Class Day exercises in High School hall, as has been the custom in the pa-t, the "97 people have decided to hold their's out at Whitmore Lake, and for that pur pose a cir has been chartered for next Wednesday. which will carry all their friends out there. All the boats have been hired, tbe dancing hall secured, and in the evening after the exercises are over, a dancing party will be given. The best idea of all, however, is embodied in the dainty, engraved invitations which each senior is proudly sending to nis friends at a distance, inviting them to attend the 3fith animal commeucement of the Anti Arbor high school. Cards are out announcing the riage of Miss Imogen Rogers a daughter of Kandolph, the sculptor, and Mr Kobert Reilly of Chicago which took place on Wednesday, June the nintb... The members of the Ann Arbor-Petiro Club gave a most enjoyable surpïisfe party last week at the home of Mr. aiifl Mrs." VV. J. Miller, the att'air bein, in honor of the sixth anniversary oí couple's marriage. An elabórate stti)per was served, after which the gaine of progressive pedro was played at which Wrs. Thomas Corbett and S. W. Millard proved themselves the most skillful by winning the two flrst prizes. Miss Bess, Miss Adda. and Mr. Colin Stevens of North Ingalls st., went to St. Clair this week to attend the wedding of their cousin, John Comstock, to Miss Latona Burtless of that city. The father of the groom, Mr. E. M. Comstock of Ypsilanti, gives a reception to the young couple today at his home to which Mr. and Mrs. Stevens of this city have gone down. The home of Mr. and Mrs. William Jacobus, at 82 Ca'.herine st., was the scène of a very pretty, though quiet, reception one evening last week, when the doctors and nurses of the Univirsity hospitals were entertained. Pleasant amusements had been provided by the host and hostess, and dainty refreshments were served, after which the guests siid "good night," and went away carrying with them the memory of a pleasant evening. The marriage of Oscar Schmid, sou of i'rederick t-chmid, to Miss .Ellen O'Dwyer, of Jackson, is announced to take place this month. Mr. Schmid lias liyed in Jackson for several years past, filling the ïesponsible position of chemist in thefirm'of Weeks & Co., of that city. Mts. Campbell, of Forest ave , enter tained a large number of ladies last Thursday ai'ternouii iu a most interesting manner. by nieaus of a paper written and read by Miss llunt, deicribing the recent trip which she has taken through the low countries. .Some of the drawings and water colors executed by Mise Huntwhile abroad, were used to Ilústrate the paper and were mueh admired. Light refreshments were afterwardc served by Miss Campbell and Miss Childs. Invitations have been issued for an ' at home " to be given today f rom three to six, by Mrs. Baeh, Misa Bach. Mrs. Gillette and Miss Gillette, at the home of Mrs. Baeh, on South Main street. The Euterpe musical club gave. as their last meeting for this year, a most delightful party at (Jranger s, last Mon day evening. About 15 couples took part in the dancing. An ice cream and strawberry social was given at the Fresbyterian church last Tuesday eveuing, to which a goodly crowd foniid their way, the warmth of theweather making it a popular resort,
