Tñe roarehers at 0 a. ;n., in the vici'rlty of the Turtle creek iniue, numbexecl 1,500. There wdll be 3,500 men on the ground by 2 p. ni. to try to shame De Armit's men to come out. Otïieï bodles .oí men are arriving every few minutes. This means a long iight if the leaders are able to continne Kit good order among the ir en. While the ranks of the strikers al Turtle creek were being augnented, larties of marehers wede in the fleld to induce the miners not to ga to wofk. A bout 200 gathered at the Turtle -re'k mines before the men started to worlï. A' line was opened up. and as the diggers neared the pit mouth they paused tuuween the unes of the strikers. There was no attempt at farce, but a nunilier of the diggers stopped and talked with the strikers and then passed on into the mine. Somc were indueed to come out. At the Oak Ilill mine a demonstration was m.ide. but no men were lnfluced to quit. How many men are in the mine is not known. The strikers sny only eigüit, but it is known that 15 ñew raen went ia. In the Sandy creek mine many men are our. The company say 100 are at work. while the strikers say only 22 went in.
