"you do r.ot owe me any apology, but you ftrtainly owe one to the girl and you must come with me and make it to her." "How rnucli will you take to settle matter," said the man, taking out a big roll of bilis. This made Mr. Lepper more indigna nt than ever and he, in no mistaken words, informed the fellotv th-at tüe conld not be setlled for any money considera t i on, but he must apologize to the girl. There was bo other alternative left but lo go before the girl and ask her pardon, and so the man complied. Mr. Lopper accompanied him to the hoiei and up stairs aud bringing out the girl said to the man: "There is tlie gii-1. Now get down on your knees and apologize to her." The fellow wanted to escape the Immiliating part and starled to ask her pardon while standing.
