Idaho Springs, Col., Aug. IS. - As a result of the decline in silver La Martine mine has discharged its forcé of men working on silver lodes. Manager Hanchett said: "The price of silver has dropped too low. We cannot mine, and wil] stop all work on the silver-bearing veins. The product of La Martine has been something over $3,000,000 at current prices, and it is one of the heaviest producers of the state. We wlll now turn our attention to the working of the gold lodes." The owners of the silver mines in the upper end of Clear Creek County will also discontinue the working of silver properties and in the future mining operations give attention exclusively to the gold-bearing veins.
