A party consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Henry S. Platt, Mr. and 'Mrs. John VamFossen, Misa Earlsnborn, oí Chicago, Bert Wiliber and Vet Johnson átarted to drive to Island Lake Sunday. Wh?n a. couple of miles north of Waifcmore Lake a man in a road cart carne .ng so suddenly behind the carmage ooiitainlng Mr. Plntt, Mrs. A'anFossen, Miss Barleníxwn and Mr. Wilber that the horses became frightened and oue of the animáis sliied off so suddenly thvt the whipple-tree snapped and broke letting down the tongue of tlie carriage. The toorses became unmanageable and Mr. Platt oalled upon. those in the carriage to jump. Miss Earlenbom and Mr. W'lber did so, the former sfci-iking on her side and badly bruising her face and arm, but Mr. Wiiiber escaped without injury. Iu the meaotime Mr. Platt was using his utmost endeavors to manage the terrified animáis. The earriage suddeníy struck something and rose in the ;iir. ín falling it overturned and Mrs. Van Foseen was pinioned underneata the wreek. 'Slie was released as soon as possíble and at flrst it was feart-d tl-at she was injured internally, but Dr. VaaFossen reports this 'morning that he does not consider this liaving resulted.' Mr. Platt was injured in the arm. whieli was swoüen badly. Tak'::i ato account everything, the occu; of the carriage esoaped very luekily.
