At the eouimou council ilonday erening all the aldermen were present except Aldermen Shaefer and Huston. The session lasted until twenty minutes of 11 o'cloek, three-quarters of in hour being taken up with Uie dlscussion of a bilí of D. L. Quirk for $12 tor leveling up the approaeh to Jarais ereek toridge, and tlicn it was flnally disallowed. Eight tratchers of this city petitionad t!:at Section 3 of Ordinauee No. 26, being an "ordinance relatlve to haw!ïerrs and peddlers," be amended by striking from the said section the words, " or any persoq selling meit from house to house." The ordinance exempts persons wlio poddle meat from house to house, and the butchers want to cut this elass off from their vocation. The mal ter was rèferred to the eoinrnittee on ordinaoces. H. A. Gilmore and S. O. Fisher petitioned for the extensión of the water main to College Place and the petitnn was rèferred to the board of puiblic Works. The committee on streets and walks was alsp autborized to fix the extensión of Brower street in Ooilege Place. Residente on Oakwood avenue pétitioned for a lateral sewer and the matter was referred to the board of public works. J. H. Taylor wanted the Cfoss street se'wer extended. 50 f eet W( st so as to reacn his new house, and the board of public works was anthorized to let the contract for the work. Property owners on Oakwoo-1 avenue and Cross street asked for the extensión of the water main to tlie'r neigliborhood and the job of considoring the matter was shoved onto the board of public works. Iluston & Dawsou wanted permission to use a portion of Congress street with building materials for the reconstruetion of the Corey block, wanted permission to establish their scales on Congress street, and also desired the right to erect an 8x10x20 wooden shed in the rear of the property. The matters were referred to the proper eommittees. An ordinance relatrve to prohibiiiu;; rowdyism, card playing, boisterous conduct, etc in the public parks f the ct,v was passed. The board of public works was aranted further time to report on Gaudy fountain, Huston iountain and Iamb ?.rk. By Aid.
