The Highland Cemetery Assoeiation held fcheir iimual electlwn Mooday uight. There are nine trustees, thnr of wbom go out of office every year, iüiil the three vahóse term expired thls year were R. W. 'Hemphill. Wm. F. PaTkr and D. Ij. Quirk, and they wei'e re-eleoted. Mt. Oharles K. KiDg was eleeted president, '. !'. Parker secretary, and e. S. Wortley genera] snperüitcndent. Tliore seems to be a wrong inipression generally with the public about the ownership of the ceaieter.v. Sonie have the impression that it. is a com]).iny that owns the property, but it is an assoeiation, and every one th.-n ons i lot in the cemetery is a mètnber of the aasodáitlon. 'i"nc property is owiu'il by the lot ownera. and il has been run and taken eare of ever ■tiace its organlzation, by the ofllcers, who nave never received a single cent oí remuneratton. It should be understood ihai the assoeiari n pays no salary toany and never has, except the elerk, who now ?ots $2.ï a year for keeping the accounts. The (ulier officei-s woi-k for nothing. They have beeii trylng bard to gel the lot owuers to oontrïbute for baking eare of the l.iis. enoug-h to pay the expenses of the help. bul fchey have not been aible so far to do so. The board of trustees are anxlöus to interest members of the asociatlon so th.-n the tees received for care oí' lots and iligging oí graves hm.v be enough to pay for the eare oí the grotmds. C. S. Wortley, general superintendent, has been tíreless in bis efforis tó niake the grounds beautiíul. The fund for tlie perpetual] caTe of lots has been increasetl by s une $800 tiiis year. .
