A Iarge gathering of resident and s-tudeiits were given a rare treal Wednesd&y evening at Newberry hall iu the way of a song recital 'by Mr. Boris Leou Ganapol, of Detroit, and his pupü, Mr. Joseph N. Ki-olik. program opened witli Schnbtrt's "Der Wanderer," whicb was reudered by Mr. Krolik iu a very artistle manuer. His deep sympathetic voiee and perfect control charmed the aiulieuce from the íirst. Mr. Krolik'.s work at once shöwed the effect of üis tliorough and masterly training at the hands of his teacher, Mr. Ganiipol. "Die Beiden Grenadier," by tëehumann. was sung by Mr. Ganapol svnh fervor and mueii feeling. The bailad, "Happy Three," by Koeehei, was rendered in a nianner that showen! the versatility of a máster. The well selected program of ten num'bers was brought to a climax by Mr. Ganapoi's spiriicd rendition of the "Toreador Song," trom Carmen. The noble ringing qualily oí hls TOlce and the dramatic flre with which he si.vmed inspired were very effeotive ín this final number. Praise is dwe to Miss Maelean, oí Deöwit, for her thoroughly sympathetic playing of the ici'oiiviianinii'iiis.
