The Saglnaw Daily XVws says: "Supt A. 'S. Whitney, of the east side schools, returnod this mornlng from Ann Arbor wnere he eetured last Friday afternoon at Tappan lecture room on mvitation of Dr. B. A. Hinsdale, professor of pedagogy of tin I'niversity of Michigan 011 "The Germán School System," toef ore the dcp.irtment of pedagogy. "Over r00 were present and the cordial weieome given to Mr. Wiliitney was most complimentary and must have been exceedimgly pleasaut . to him. He spoke of the organizatioii of the Germán schools anl of hls personal experiences in riaiting them while ia Eurofe. He told what he saw there and explained the various classes. It was one of the most successful meetings of the kind and a number of the professors of the Universlty personally camplimented Mr. Wiiiinoy higïily on his in teros ting anü practical talk." It wül not be ont of place here to nention the fact that Mr. Whitney's naipe is freguemtly mentioned in nection with the superïntendency of schools. Prof. Whltney Is a soca lied modern school man. His sa!ary as superintendent of the Sagina v schools is larger thau the sum pald heretofore to the head of our schools, still a good field of labor is more deairable to such a man as Mr. Whitnèy rlian high salary.
