GloversvCIe, N. Y., February 1.- The Alvord house, a four-story briek srructure, the largest hotel in the city w;is burned this morning. Pive livcs were lost. The buildirg and contents, whfeh wcre worth about !?100,000, burned wlth almost inci.xdible rapidity. At this season the businoss is unusually large and it is undtirstood that nearly every room iu tue building was ocenpied.
