Washington, Peb. 17.- At noon today the president called ex-Attorney General McKenna to the white house. He wished to get the opinión of the ex-attorney general (now a member of the Supreme court) on the legal aspects of the case and particularly the international complications which are sure to follow. Vice President Hobart was also in consultation with the president for nearly an hour. Two members of the cabinet, who spent some time with the president today, state that everything so far received indicates that the loss of the Maine was due to accident. Capt. Sigsbee, In his telegrams from Havana, states that he is not prepared to express an opinión on this point.
