Civil Service Commission Reports
Washington, Feb. 15. - The annuaí report of the clvil-service cornmission for the fiscal year which ended June 30, 1897, has been presented to the president. It begins with a statement to show that after an experience oi nearly fifteen years, the hopes of the advocates of the civil-service law have been largely realized. In pradtice, the law has proved to be a constantly exerted and effective force in the direction of economy.
