New York, March 31.- A special to the Journal and Advertiser from Washington says: "There Js some reason to believe the government has made a most important deal with a foreign nation which will have a most important bearing upon our relations with Spain. It is said that negotiations have been concluded for the cession to this country of the three Danish islands in the West Indies - St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix. It is also understood that Dsnmark sells to this country two cruisers and three torpedo boat destroyers. The price paid for the whole is said to be $15,000,000. Nothing can be learned of the details, but it is reported that the islands were sold for about $9, 000.000, and the war vessels for about $6,030,000. The islands will be used as coaling stations and as a base for naval action.
