Up to date I havo received in cash i'rom the eitizens of Ann Arbor and vicinlty in aid of the starving people ol Cuba the stitn "f $142.09; 1 have also received a quantity of clothing. Of this amount I have remitted to the Hon. Allen Sheldon, of Detroit, tfie. commissioner for this state, as follows: February 5, $50; Mareh 5, $60; vet on hand in cash $32.09, and a quantity of elothlng. Of this amount there.wis eontribnted by the Rethlehem church, $32.;'9; Germán M. E. church. $5; Junior Endeavor society of Christ Church, $20; balance by private contributions. More than three-fourths of the=e iuma have been contributed by Germans. We are, therefore. naturally led to the thoug-ht: Are the Germán people more charltaWy disposed than Amerii ans? This is a cause worthy of the earnest support of all our respected fellow eitizens, Americans as well as dermans, but most estiecially should this appeal enlist the full support of all the Christian pastors and Christian people of this favored city.
