The most extraordinary forest In the world is one discovered by Dr Welwitsch, which occupies a tableland some six miles broad, at a height of 300 feet or 400 feet above the sea, neai the west coast of África. The trunks of the trees of this peculiar forest ar four feet in diameter, and yet they only attaln a height of one foot, giving the tree the appearance o; a roum table. There are never mor than two leaves, which attain a length -jf six feet and a breadth of two feet, the flowers iorrning crimson clusters.
