Postoffice Improvements
During the foyr years of Mr. Bea nistration many iroprovements have been made in the postal service in this city. The carriers have been inereased in number from seven to eleven, twö of whieh are mounted e has been extended so as to take in the whole city, about a thlrd of which had previously been outside of the carrler's delivery. The deliveries have been Inereased to two thVoughout the whole territprj instead of partially so and the deliverings in the business section - have inereased from three to five. The routes have been rearranged so as to permit the earlier delivery of important mail, the mail for the State si stores, for instance, reaehing there at about S o'clock instead of 10 as formerly. All mail for the University has been delivered, thus saving the Uniity the employment of a sp r. A night mailing clerk has been added to the force, so that mail put In the office at ary time at night ;e through night trains, often saving 21 hours in transmission. This clerk also enables the office to keep in with the mailing of matter other than the ñrst olass, which also greatly increases the promptness of its dls■h.
