Graduate Club Meeting
The Gradúate Club held its final meeting- for the year at the home of Prof. Kelsey Friday evening. A paper was i-ead by Professor Stanley upon "The oer Festivals at Beyreuth." Two songs composed by Professor Stanley were artistieally gtven By Miss Bailey, of the School of Music, before the paper. Professor Stanley called Beyreuth a place which had greatness thrust upon it. as its quiet niral eharaoter was in no worthy oí note before Wagnér festivals began there. -From his frequent visits to the town Professor Stanley reproi-ividlj its pastoral beauties, enlivening- his descriptions with the wit and humor Cor which he Is so deservedlv popular. The evolution of the music i as au art form was traced, followed by a sympathetic sketch of the early Ufe, the training and ideáis of Wagner. An impressive deseription of the performance of "Pasifal," attended by Professor Stanley last summer, the paper, which was received wilh hearty applause as one of the best addresses enjoyed by the club this year. Miss Bailey sang a selectlon from "Trisi ui and Isólde," after which the gradexchanged soeiabilities. The business meeting of the club for the election of officers for the next year will take .place Saturday afternoon, June 4, at 1:30.
