According to the most reliable staüstical information obtainable, out of 100,000 children of either sex who reach the age of ten years, the average expectation of lif e is expressed in the following table: 90,000 will live to attain the age of 23 80,000 will live to attain the age of 37 70,000 will live to attain the age of 50 60,000 will live to attain the age of 58 50,000 will live to attain the age of 65 40,000 will live to attain the age of 70 30,000 will live to attain the age of W 20,000 will live to attain the age of 77 10,000 will live to attain the age of 82 5,000 will live to attain the age of 83 2,000 will live to attain the age of 85 1,000 will live to attain the age of 90 500 will live to attain the age of 91 350 will live to attain the age of 92 100 will live to attain the age of 93 25 will live to sttain the age of 94 10 will live to attain the age of 95 1 will live to attain the age of 100 The deaths average less than one per cent. per annum of the whole number up to the age of 51, although amounting to upwards of 10 per cent. of the number surviving after the age of 41. Thenceforward the annual percentage of deaths increase very rapidly until at 83 it amounts to nearly the entire number of survivors. The f e west deaths occur between the ages of 25 and 28 inclusive, at which time men and vromen should be in the very prime of their Uves. A trouble had arisen among the singers of a certain church, and on one Sabbath morning the good minister found himself without a choir. He read the oíd familiar hymn, commencing "J love to steal a while away." In the absence of the choir one of the deacons threw himself into the breach and undertook to lead off. He pitched the tune and sung "I love to steal," but he had it so high that he broke down. He tried it a second time, and again broke down at steal, it was so low. Not discouraged, he tried it a third time, and sung "I love to steal," and theri went down as before. At this point the audience became amused, and the minister arose and said, "It i s greatly to be regretted. Let us pray. An Iovva law remits a certain percentage of taxes for five years on every acre of fruit, and for ten years on every acre of forest trees planted within the State and k#pt alive. Under this stimulus more than 75,000 acres of fruit and forest trees have been planted, and there has been a remission of State and county taxes to the amount of about $200,000. A good deacon, making an official visit to a dying neighbor, who was a very churlish and universally unpopular man, put the usual question: "Are ou willing to go my friend ?" "O, yes," said the sick man, "I am." "Well," said the simple-minded deacon, "I am glad you are, for the neighbors are willing."
