- It is Baid the atheletic association lost $150 by the Detroit foot ball excursión. A number of the studonts atteDfled tho Grant reception at Chicago this weeV. - The sophomores beat the freshmen at foot-ball last Saturday by a score of 4 to 1. - Several new operating chairs have recently been added to the dental operating' room. - The Hon. James W. Patterson while in the city will be the guest of his former schoolmate, Dr. Dunster. - Tho heating apparatus for warming all the buildings is about completed and will be put in operation the flrst of the week. - Mr. Holmes the yonng man of the law department who recently met with an accident in jumping from a freight train down at the depot, is on the streets again. - The student's Christian association have elected the following vice presidenta from the different departments: law, A. C. Angelí ; medical, Mr. Babcock ; dental, R. A. Youug; homeopathie, A. F rost. - James VV. Patterson, ex-senator from New Harapsliire and late Professor in Dartinouth college, will dehver nis popular lecture on Manhood, at the Methodist church tbifl ovening under the auspices of the stilden t'slecture assooiation. - At a meeting of the junior law class the following offieers were elected : President, Mr. Martin; vice-president, Miss Taylor ; seeretary. Mr. McCand less ; treasuret, Mr. Oraber ; base ball captain, Mr. Brooks; foot-ball captain, Mr. Carr. - The new paper to be publisbed by the combined forcea of the professional schools is aesuming proportions. Committees are soliciting subscriptions, advertiaements, bids for printing, etc, and meeting with suecess. It is said the paper will be mouthly in magazine form. - The Boston Temple Quartette did not put in an appearance for sume unaocountable reason, last Friday evening as was their announcement. The largest audience of the seasin had assembled who were greatly disappointed as well as the managers of the lecture association. - The present board of the stndent's lecture association have very wisely departed from the time-honored custom of selling tickets in couples to their entertainments and hereafter will sell tickets to each entertainment without reference to what is to follow. This change ineets with the universal approval of the students. - The freslimen class have elected the Following officers : Miss Mabel Schuyer, Ann Arbor, poet ; F. J. Jennisou, Detroit, toast-master ; Miss Marión Barry, Detroit, historian ; Chas. T. Wilkins, Detroit, orator; Miss Lyons, Laporte, Lnd., seer; E. Worden, Fort Wayne, [nd., marshal ; W. M. Lennan, Lapeer, chaplain. - Work on the new university buildings is progressing rapidly. The new museum is approaohing external comaletion and in a few days will be under roof. The hospital buildings are already under roof and the interior work s pushing rapidly. The pharmacy is receiving a new coat of paint and some new additions. - From the nature of circumstances and not because there was not good grounds of action, Judge Cooley adviaed ;he students to desist from instituting suits against the city for false imprisonment. Mr. Frazer on the part of the :own asked the students not to bring ,he suits, and also gave it as his advice as a lawyer. Huw the advice will be received by the students is yet to be seen. The committees are stiü at work with closed doors.
