- Judge Cooley will be a contributOT to the uow university paper. -CaƱe carving has commenced in earnest in the different departments. The first number of the new college paper will appear in about ten days. -The D. K. E. fraternity had a banquet in Detroit last Tuesday evening. School closed in the literary department Tuesday evening until Monday. A largo number of students are at home this week to eat thanksgiving turkey. Some very dosirable and convenient bulletin board havo been put up in the hall of the main building. -The celebrated Kate Thayer ooncert company has been eecured as an extra on the students' leoture and ooncert courae: -The students of the senior medical class will be excusod from duties to attend the lectures of the law department, on medical jurisprudence. _At a meeting; of the Junior class it was decided not to have the usual "Junior hop" this year. Considerable dissatisfaction is espressed. -Messrs. Walker and Kent of Detroit have been retained as oounsel in the suit to be brought by the students against the city officials for false imprisonment. -The Y. M. C. A. of the University was very agreeably entertained by the young folks of the Presbyterian church at the church parlors, on Saturday evening. Workmon commenced the work of putting in the new heating apparatus in the law aepartment last Wednesday and will finish to-morrow. As they occupied the building lectures are suspended until Monday morning. Xs "quizzes" have commenced in the law department the students 'are supplying themselves with that splendid set of books, Blickensderfers law abridgements. Judge Cooley says the work evinces great case in its preparation and truBts it will meet with good success. -The Mendelssohn Quintette Club was greeted with the largest audience that has appeared at any of the students' entertainmenta. The performance was very entertaining and the music was fully up to the average furhished by this troupe notwithstanding most of the performers were new to Ann Arbor audiences. _
