AUYINQ lATIENTKECOVERSTHROUGH THE INTEIiPOSITION OF A HUMBLE ÜEliHAN. - Some weeks ago Dr. G , a very reputable and widely-known phyeician, living on G street, was called to attend a very complicated case of fiheumatiem. Upon arriving at the house he found a man, about forty years of age, lying in a prostrated and Berious condition, with bis whole frame dangeroasly afFected with the painful disease. He prescribed for the patiënt, but the man oontinued to grow worse, and on Sunday evening he waa found to be in very alarming condition. The knees üd elbows and larger jointa were greatly inflamed, and could not be öimbS It was only with extreme difficulty that the patiënt could be turned in bed, with the aid of three or four persons. The Weight of the clothing was so oppressive that means had to be adopted to keep It from the patient's body. The doctor saw that his assistance Would be of no avail, and left the house tharnembersof the family folio wing hiui to the door, weeping. At this critioal iour, a neighbor, a poor and humble erman shoemaker, appeared to the fnef-smitton ones as a saving angel. He had heard of the despair of the family nd now asked thera to try his remedy nd accordingly brought forth a bottlè of St. Jacod's Oil. As a drowr.ing man ill catch at straws, so the poor wifo Pplied this remedy ; she had no hope, out would try anything, as a matter of uty. The firgt application ■ eased the Plient very mueh : after a few hours öty used it again, and, wonder of wonOer8 the pain vanished entirely! Every iubsequent applioation improved the Werer, and in two days he was well na out. When the doctor called a few ?ys after, he was indeed surprised ; for Mistead of a oorpee, he had found a wade man.-
