M. - Prof. Eastorbrook'a wife died 8naday 9 A. M. The Nonjal school olosed in consequence untll Tliursday. - J. C. Butit does not necessarily follow that he will consolídate the two roads. Their nterests will be more closely united, )ut as far as the sale is concerned it is merely a sale of E. Stnith and other Boston capitalists to Mr. Alley who is also a Boston capitalist, consequently we predict that at the meeting of Directors the 22nd, there will be little or no change in tho management. - A romance tinotured with reality occurred Tueeday morning in Justice Forsyth's office. The occasion was the rnarriage of Peter Pool and Julia Thompson, (oolored), the former being in the employ of Wm. Lewis and Fred ohnson in the capacity of taking care f their horses. The lady is a servant girl we understand. A large erowd assmbled to witnesa the cereinony, and hut is accounted for by the reason that fficer Sheruell bad the gentleman in ustody 0:1 a charge of seduction, pre'urred by the bride. The matter was seted by the defeudant marrying the omplainant then and there, thus escapig Ihe criminal penalty. - The new opera honso was opened :iy in its teinperance capacity by R. E. Frazer of Ann Arbor. The sale feats was large amounting to over ■ï'80 at ten cents apiece in the afternoon and there was a larger attendance in the eveniny. The speaker thanked the Temperance society for the favor ít bestowad upon him in requesting him to be the first to speak on tetnperanco in the beautiful edifice, and that the managers would, as promised at the opening permit nothing but the legitímate drama to be produced there as long as the peeple both supported and demanded tt. And that in order to appreciate moral entertainuients we should be a temperance comtuunity.
