Eivee Eaisin, Jan. 20. - The exoitement about the brass band bas partially died out, but tb( boya 8y tliey will have oue if it takes their last cent. - A spelling school at the center school house last Fiiday eveniug was an enjoyable afïair. Oíd and young-took pait in "spelling down" the old fashtoned way, after which the school exei■i3ed in declamation, songs, dialogues &c. - As sou-.o of the boys of the centc -ichool were trying the strenth of the ue in the lake on Thursday last, one of lipin, ten yearold sou of Hiram Martin, broke tlirough, and before he could be rec-cued had been in the water nearly or quite half an hour. He was unoonBoioua when taken out but by vigorous efforte, on tho part of his reseuerSj he was rostored to consoiousness nnd at this writing is considcred out of danger. It was a narrow escape for thelittle fellow and will serve as a warning to the rest.
