No cause of aotion was the verdict in the oase of Moore vs. "Volvey Davenport. Flaintiff granted until Jan. 31 to movofor a new trial, and thirty days from that date to settle bill of exceptions. People vs. AVm. Johtis and Michael Clark, charged vv-ith burglary and larceny. These are the sneak thieves who entered the rrsidencoa of Prof. Wiuehell, E. J, Knowlton and otliersin December. Convicted of larceny by a jury. Court adjourued to Taeíday, O A. K. Friday, jHn. 23. Georgo Bibbins charged with larcenyiug a a satohel of clothing from George Brown, another colored individual. George skipped to Toledo beyond juriediction of court thereby putting lus bondsman in great suspense. George was inveigled across the line and brought hither for trial, at whicli an ira menso amount of fun was produced, endiug in a verdict of guilty. John Ball, charged with larcenyiug clothing from an employer. John is only fourteen. Prisoner discharged by oourt. Tuesday, Jan. 27. Alfred H. Holmes brought suit against Wm. Oáius to recover personal damages sustained in an a8saultand battery in fall of 1878 in Pittsfield. Jury trial. Defense olaimed injuries received were accidental without uitent on part of defendant. Phiintiff recovered judgruent in $280. Decree for foreclosure granted in case of Geo. Voorhies vs. E. E. and L. P. Douglass. Wednesday, Jan. 28. J. B. Newton admitted to the bar. Benjamin Allen brings action against Peter Madden for damages for malicióos prosecution and slander. Parties reside in Dexter township. Case on.
