The state red ribbon central coinmittee met at Ann Arbor laat week, and adopted the following a a form of petition to tha legislatura, to be circulated in the state for signatures : The undersigned hereby petition the honorable sonate and house of rt-presentatives to subniit to the ptople for raiiiieation, at the spring election in 1881, or rejeotion, an amendment to the constitution as nearly as posaible sell'-operative in terms prohibiting, under special penalties, the manufacture and sale oí alcobolic and malt wines aml liquors, except for medicinal, mechanical and sacramental purposos, under proper regulations. A committee was also appointed to dnift the amendment proposed, and a close and powerful organization for district, county, township and school district work was planned, tho object being to make a publio sentiment whic' will carry the proposed amendment a the eleetion. The Bortree Mfg. Co., of Jackson makes l,020corsets perday, and euiploy 185 girls in its factory.
