An event íor sometí me anucipaieu was consummate-d on Tuesday afternoon. The f act that two members holding prominent positions in this community and esteemed by all who fcnow them were about to obey the Biblical injunction and join destinies, attracted the attention oí a wide circle of friends on either side. Dr. A. L. Worden the groom is a gradúate of 1S79, the bride Miss Carrie E., daughter of Mr. E. B. Ilutcliins. and sinc-e the 'age of sixteen occupied the position of alto singer in the M. E. church choir. These two persons were married on Tuesday afternoon at the residence of the bride's father by Dr. Cocker, assisted by Kev. R. B. Pope, and departed on the evening of that day for Dunlap, Iowa. where Mr. and Mrs. Dr. Worden will reside, this thriving village having been chosen by Mr. W. as a good point in which to build up a practico. Numerous presents were made, among the number being a ailver tea set presented Mrs. Worden by hor lady friends in the church. A handsome water pitcher by Mr. W"s boyhood friends, which : sitates tlie chronicling of a brief story. In 1873 sevpn yonng men, warm friends ofeachoti dttaatwhen any of the nnmber suould enter into connubial nappiness, the remainder would unite and' tender a present. These young men were G. R. Braitwaite, (now deceased) Wm. Clute, Oscar Tucker, Geo. L. Moore, L. S. Leren, C. II. Ludlow and A. L. Worden, the latter being the last to wed. Tlie agreement has been f aithf ully carried out the presentaüon to Mr. Worden eompleting it. A little while beforedeparturethe happy couple were tendered a serenade by the Aim Arbor city bami. Mr. and Mrs. Worden leave for their Iowa home with the well wishes of a host of friends and acquaintanoes with whom tney are compelled to simder ties, endearing and sorrowf ui to break.
