The following extract from a sermón proachecl by Sydney Sinith to Queen Vicioria on lier accession to the throne is, thinks the London Truth, worthy of raealluur: "Extinguían in your beert the iiendish love of military glory from which your eex does not necessarily exempt yon, and to which the wickedness of flatterers may urge y ou. Öay upon your death bed, 'I have made few orphans in my reign ; I have made few widows. My object has been peace. I have used all the might of my character and all tlie power of my situation to ciieck the irascible passions ot' mankind, and turn them to the arts of houest industry.'"
