No insurance. - Mrs. Knapp, mother of Jacob Knapp, of Freedom, has been living in Owosso for several years. She came here not long since to visjt her son, and friends, returning on Monday last in apparent good hcalth, at least she said she was as well as she ever was in her life. She arrived at Owosso that night, and while on her way home from the depot was taken sick and was obliged to cali a carriage. She was taken to the houas but dicd within five minutes.- The doctors say of heart disease. A telegram was immediateiy se,t to herson Jacob, and he took the train for Owosso the nextmorning. Ilereturned here yesterday with the body and the funeral was held at Bethel churcli in Freedom, at ten o'clock to-day. Rev. Kuensler preaohing the funeral sermón. -Manchester Enterprise. - Some misapprehension has been caused, and some blame attached to Prosecuting Attorney Emerick by reason of the erroneous ptatements in the Detroit papers that Martin Eckerish Jr. who was tried at the present term of court for the crime of robbery was discharged on account of an informality in the information for which Mr. E. was respon8ible. Such is not the case. The defendant was arrestcd and an information tiled against him by the uien Prosecuting Attorn -y long l)efore Mr. E. was elected to that position and he wan then defended by Mr. Emerick as counsel, llis case was p ! for trial until after the elecüon of Emerick and of course he could not. in justice either to his cliënt or the public, prosecute him as attorney for the People, and so the circuit Judge in compliance with the law in such cases, appointed the former Prosecutor to $ry the case in behalf of the People. Mr. Emeridk appeared upon the trial of this case therefore as counsel for Ihe prisouer and was in 110 way responsible for any defects in the proceedings.
