It is au oxcellont kind of rain fui1 this usc thongh somewhat more expensive than nny other sorts ; but too niuch of this hearty fcwl is dotrimerrtal, particnlarly whcn led to Cochins, Bnilnnas, etc. Fowls ave very partía] to wltoat. It lio]])s the layiug capacity of hons, but it slionld not be used except with discretion as to the quantity allowcd them daily. An excess of this r:iv grain will induce a looseness in the bowels very freqnently. It is easy of digestión, and slionld be fiirnished in moderation, as a needful and most desirablc variety, in conjuiiction vrith other dry grains, such as cracked corn, oats, barlcy, bnckwlieat, etc. If not more than one-third or onefonrth of wlieat is allowcd with the other cereals nientioned, lor ordinary purposes in the laying season, hens will do quite as well, and they oan thus be kopt in bettor average condition than by a rea ter allowance.
