McGuiness the "Colonel," has at last, succnmbed to feminine charms, and led one of Jacksons fairest daughters to the altar of matrimonial felicity, Monday last. - By superhuman efforts, two orthree very impure scandals are being suppressed in Dexter, but "Murder will out," and when the inevitable crash comes it will not be the people of minature prominence who will be interested. - Contrary to expectations on account of disagreeable weather, the excursión given by the band to Jackson, Bunday, to witness the ceremonies of memorial day, was a success and well attended. Had the weather permitted a much larger crowd would liave been in attendance The net proceeds amounting to 25.00. - It pays a person sometimes to be thrown from a buggy, run over and kicked about a dozen, times, besmeared with mud &e., especially when Pater Familias comes to the reseue and replaces the tattered garments with new &c, but especial care should be taken to take enough "badge" to keep from gctting woundü of a severe character. -Mr. Jas. Harria and Arnold Lane had an altercation Tuesday over an alleged debt owed Ilarris, whenLane maliciously struck Ilarris a blow on the liead with a spirit level, inflicting an uglycut two inches long, whicli was dressed by Dr. Taylor. Complaint was immedeately made, Lane arrested, brought before Justice Gorman, pleaded not guilty, and case set down f or Friday. - Temperance poople of Dexter and vicinity rallied in f uil force Friday,and pursuant to arrangements started for Ann Arbor headed by the Cornet band. There was a large procession when all had fallen fnto line. Two wagons were drawn by four horses followed by doublé buggies, single bnggies and last, but not least, a load of Dexter's fair damsels bringing up the rear. The procession order was abandoned coming home as some were coming np to 12 o'clock at night. All seemed well pleasedwith the first Ked Ribbon picne.i - Wooster Blodget, a wealthy and re spected farmer of Webster, accompan ied by his wife, left for the village to join the R. R. Club's procesaion Friday morning, when opposite the residence of Ilenry Warren his horses becam trightened at sometbing and shied on side, the force of which threwnim from 'the buggy to the ground head foreroost Medical assistance v;is promptly pro cured and it was discovered that he ha sustained concussion of the brain. ]?u Iittle liopes were entertained at flrst fo his recovery but at last account from his physician, Dr. Ziegenfuss, h as in a fair way to recover.
