At milking time wo do not want so much talking and runuing around the "pouml" or yard. We want all those who ure not niilkiiu1 to eitlier stay away or to act qnieily and sensibly. Wc do not want tlie cattle chased ail around tho yard with a etalk or a heavy stick, nntil they are tired onougli to stand still, but by being uniiornily kind we want each cow to know tliat we como to relieve lier of her inilk, which we intend to do quietly and quickly. Wo want her to iindeistand we are her best lrieiid and never inlent on injiiring her in any way. By having only quiet, experienced mil kers, you will be surprised at tiie great diilerence in the daily yielii oí' iniik. lt is scarccly necessary to eau t ion cleaulLness at inilking time, tor all sliould know its great iniportince and the eii'cet it lias upon the quality and taste of the product. but ve must speak oi" the habit of moisleuing the cow's teats to niake the inilktnjr easier. This may be the case, but vheii thia is persisted iu the teats are apt to harden and crack. The best plan is to sponge thein off jus t before inilking with pure water - warm in jvinter, cool in siiniiner - and when they have dried oft' do the milkiug, and the teats will always be nice.
