Very young ladies, when flrst appearing in society should be dressed for these occasions in very fresh and simple toilets. The graceful, slender figure at that age admits of ccrtain styles which can ouly then be used. Au cxample of the fashion i the "robe a la vierge" and the "corsage a l'enfant" vrhich consist of a blouse with a belt and small shoulder-pieces. The "jeune martyre" style i a kind of Grecian tight-sittiug tunique, formina two peplum points ; in fact all styles are resorted to for this purpose vrhich are suited to very young women. After the age of twenty yearg ladies have many more privileges, and are then allawed to woar vriiat are rcally young ladies' styles. It is much to be regretted that the very youthful fashion above described is not retained for a longer time. This distinction is much more observed by the latter allowing young girls " almos t as costly toilets as should be ■vrorn by those more ad vaneed in years. It cannot, hovrever, be too strongly impressed upon a young lady's mind that the greatest charca of her toilet consists in its youtliful and simple cliaractcr. A most admirable style U the "Agnes Sorel" point, or the "Diaue de FüiUers" waist, vrith puifings on the top of the arm ; these are far preferable to the "habit marquise" or the cuirass with paniers, wlüuh are more appropriate i'or young married ladieg.
