C. Allen professor of materia medica was considered, the rpf?ents eompromised hy apponunifi uu lecturer in the homeopathie college one yearata salary of $1,650 per annum. Several physicians of the school in Detroit were opposed to the appointmerit on the ground of non-success as a physician; that fot some yettfs he aban.Inned the nrofession for alife insutance íigrncy. Friends of Dr. Jones petitioned for hls re-appointment, and those opposed to Allen pref erred Dr. Ariult of Grand Itapids. The regents met on Wednesday and transacled the following business : Frank II. Tyler was appointed as aseistant to the dean of the homeopathie college, without salary. Dr. U.B.BillmeyerWaB appointed a?sistant to the chair of olinlcal denlistry in the dental college, at a salary of $200. Pafcriok E. Nagle, M. D., was appointed assistant in qualitative analysisand James F. Geisler, Ph. C., assistant in pharmaceutical preparations, ior om, year f rom Oct. 1, at a salary of $210 each. Byroo W. Cheever, M. D., oow assistent in chemical laboratory appointed instructor in applied chemistry at $900 saiary. President Frieze announcecl to tlie board that ex-Gov. Bagley had wrttten that he had orderod to be sent to the University, portraits of all the Pvcsi dents of the T'nited States frora Wash incrton down to the present time, with the suggestion tliat they might be placed in the museum or library as thought best. Regent Shearer, from the committee on buildings ar.d grounds, reportecl that dra-wings, etc, had been prepared for the additional story to the laboratory proposals had been received, and Dean Bros., of Detroit, bad contracted for all the work and material, except sucn as was required for heating, ventilation and pltunblng, for $Ö,86. Borne extras might be necessavy, liowever ; $60 had been appropriated to give the south wlng a greater pitch. The sum of $150 would cover all extras. The building would be ready for occupancy by October 1. The new portion of the walls nreds stopping and penciling. This will COSÍ nbont S4Ó0, and to finish the entire walls in the same manner $800. These addittonal expenses it was decided not at present to ingur. A petition signed by over 100 homeopathie physicians of the state, asking for the appointment of Dr. S. A. Jones an emeritus prof essor, was received and referred. W. A.
